|Fireworks over New River Gorge|
Beginning at 4 p.m., the family fest features plenty of activities for children, including games and contests with prizes and access to the resort's pool near the rim of the gorge. Admission is free, though food and access to programs may not always be, according to P.J. Stevenson, marketing director for the resort.
The array of adventure attractions at the resort will also be in full swing, and access to its zip-lines and aerial adventure courses and whitewater rafting may be quickly arranged. Evening "Bridgewalk" tours beneath the New River Gorge Bridge may also be available.
Weather permitting, the fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m., Stevenson said.
On the following night (Monday) a second display on the opposite side of the gorge hosted by the town of Fayetteville is sure to attraction several thousand spectators as well, and Stevenson said guests are encouraged to stay through the night.
